This Atlanta art print features a canyon of skyscrapers leading to the Bank of America Plaza directly ahead. This vantage point has always reminded me simultaneously of the world of tomorrow and an urban canyon. Being at street level feels as if being in the river at the bottom of a deep canyon complete with trees. At the same time, the architecture reminds me of a past vision of the future, complete with elevated walkways and blocky postmodern architecture.
This is the vision of Atlanta that came into being during a building boom in the 80s and 90s - although the designs for these buildings were actually older than that from my understanding. The whole Peachtree Center corridor was conceived and begun decades earlier but completed in the decade before I called Atlanta home.
This print speaks to the side of me that loves architecture as well as the side that is a bit nostalgic for Atlanta as it was when I was fresh out of college.
