Boston Light In The Rain - Lighthouse Greeting Card
This original lighthouse greeting card features the historic Boston Light in the rain. There's been a lighthouse on this island in Boston's outer harbor since 1716. The current Boston Light was built in 1783 and is the only lighthouse in America that is still manned by the US Coast Guard. It is automated but there is still a keeper who acts as guide for visitors to Little Brewster Island. Unsurprisingly, Boston Light was designated a National Historic Landmark in 1964.
Boston Light is seen in this artwork at night with rain falling. This is my favorite way to depict lighthouses although they are a subject I love regardless of the landscape. There's just something romantic about a lighthouse and it's a subject I've found speaks to many out there for a multitude of reasons. But there's just something reassuring about seeing the top of a lighthouse lit up against night skies - particularly in the rain. All is well!
