Carpe Diem - Sunrise Greeting Card
This vivid sunrise greeting card features the Latin phrase Carpe diem. This motivational phrase is often said to mean "Seize the day" but I recently read an article that said that's not the literal translation of the words. In Latin it means "plucking the day." As a metaphor, it probably means something akin to "gather ye rose buds while ye may." When we translate metaphors, we often give them a translation than attempts to convey the meaning. And "seize the day" is probably a lot more motivational than "plucking the day" isn't it?
The phrase Carpe diem is shown over a sunrise scene that is mean to suggest those first few moments of morning when the sun has yet to actually appear but the horizon is glowing with color. The night sky has not yet entirely retreated. If you're going to seize the day, you might as well get an early start.
