Central Of Georgia Coaling Tower - Macon Art Print
Description
This Macon art print features the historic Central of Georgia Coaling Tower. It was built for railroad yard in Macon in 1910. This print is based off a photo I took of the coaling tower as the sun set some years ago. At the time, I had no idea what this towering structure was. It struck me as something out of a steampunk movie. And I guess as it has to do with old coal powered steam engines, I wasn't far off in the great scheme of things!
I still think this massive coaling tower is a thing of odd industrial beauty and I don't know what use it could possibly have in the modern world but I was captured by its beauty standing in the evening sun that night and it left me hoping that an eventual re-use is found for this piece of local railroad history.
