This historic landmark art print features the Chicago Theatre sign. Built in 1921, the Chicago theatre has been on the National Register of Historic Places since 1979. That classic sign is the type of theatre marquee that is still emulated a century later in modern move theaters. It's simply classic and beautiful!
And of course, in Chicago this sign is iconic. It was listed as a Chicago landmark in 1983. Like many classic movie theatres today audiences are more likely to catch a live performance at this North State Street landmark.
I had a lot of fun with this Chicago Theatre sign artwork. First of all, it has one of my favorite colors, red! And in abundance! And the design details are simply rich. The rich colors in this art print suggest a sunny afternoon in Chicago's Theatre district.
What attracted you to this Chicago landmark print? A connection with Chicago or a general love for these grand old movie palaces?
