Colonial Governor's Palace - Williamsburg Art Print
This Williamsburg art print features a view of the Colonial Governor's palace for Virginia. Built in the early 1700's, it was burned in 1781. The building that sits at the end of the Palace Green was faithfully reconstructed on its original site in the 1930's. While there are buildings in Williamsburg that are genuinely still standing from the colonial era, this gorgeous Georgian building is not one of them. And yet, it's such an integral part of the history and beauty of Colonial Williamsburg that I found I really didn't care if it was an original building or not. This is nonetheless a vista that would have been familiar to the folks of Williamsburg in American colonial times!
This Williamsburg art print captures the beautiful facade of the Colonial Governor's palace flanked by trees in late summer. The grandeur of Old Georgian is simply hard to beat.
What catches your eye in this Colonial Governor's palace art? Have you lived in or visited Williamsburg or do you simply adore history?
