Dunguaire Castle - Historic Ireland Metal Print
This historic Ireland metal print features the beauty of Dunguaire Castle. Chances are if you've toured Ireland's west coast, you've at least paused near this 16th century tower house near Kinvara. It's seen in this artwork reflecting in the waters of Galway Bay.
The historic Dunguaire Castle was built in 1520 by the O'Hynes Clan. Its restoration began in the last century. In 1924 it was purchased by Oliver St. John Gogarty, a famous Irish surgeon and literary figure. The repairs he began were finished by Christobel Lady Amptill who purchased the castle in 1954. Today the castle belongs to Shannon Heritage who open the castle to visitors in the summer season. My own visit to Ireland was in the winter, so although I've seen this beautiful tower house, it was not up close and personal. It definitely made an impression on me anyway.
What caught your attention in this Dunguaire Castle metal print? Have you been there yourself or have some other connection to this historic old Irish building? I hope you'll share your thoughts.
