This Irish tote bag features a special subject, Fastnet Lighthouse at night. This 1891 lighthouse is often referred to as the teardrop of Ireland because when Irish immigrants in the last century left by boat, this lighthouse was the last piece of Ireland they saw. It's seen here depicted against a star-filled sky - a magical last sighting of Ireland.
You would be forgiven for thinking Fastnet lighthouse is the result of an active imagination. The first few times I saw photos I assumed they were photomanipulation of some sort. Fastnet simply looked like the stuff of fantasy perched above those rugged rocks as it is in the midst of the ocean. When I learned the story of this beautiful Irish light, I was touched and knew it had to be a subject for my art. This artwork is also available as wall art but as a tote bag it is not only magical, it's also functional!
What caught your attention about this tote bag? Are you familiar with Fastnet lighthouse or do you simply adore lighthouses in general?
Note, the same artwork is repeated on both sides of the tote bag. If you would like a different image on one side, custom text such as a message or name, or some other customizations please send a message before ordering.
