Hay House - Macon Georgia Art Print
This Macon Georgia art print features Hay House - often referred to as the Palace of the South. This local architectural gem was built by William B. Johnston from 1855 to 1859. It was a gift for his new bride. The Italianate style was inspired by their honeymoon trip to Europe.
That palatial home on Georgia Avenue has passed through several hands since then. First to a daughter who married a Felton and later to the Hay family. The house is more correctly referred to as the Johnston-Felton-Hay House, but typically people shorten it to simply the Hay House. It was the Hay family who donated the home to the Georgia Trust to operate as a museum.
Today the Hay House is home to weddings, receptions, banquets and more. Do you have memories of a special event at Hay House in Macon, Georgia?
This artwork features the landmark home bathed in sunlight - a colorful tribute to a special place.
