The original art on this tote bag features the Historic Ideal Georgia Depot. Built in 1906 to serve as an Atlanta Birmingham & Atlantic Railroad depot, it actually slightly pre-dates the city which was incorporated in 1907. The depot, however, figures into the city history heavily. Local lore is that Ideal was known as Joe Town after one of the community leaders. However when the depot was opened a visiting railroad executive apparently commented that it was an ideal location and it struck a chord with locals.
Although I did not grow up in Ideal, I grew up in Macon County and am familiar with the community and have always found it a charming place. Odds are if you are looking at the artwork on this tote bag, so do you. I hope you'll share what attracts you to this image and your connection with Ideal.
Note, the same artwork is repeated on both sides of the tote bag. If you would like a different image on one side, custom text such as a message or name, or some other customizations please send a message before ordering.
