Irish Monastery Ruins - Galway Greeting Card
The subject of the image on this County Galway greeting card are the Irish monastery ruins at Ross Errilly Friary near Headford. These old ruins are said to be among the best preserved medieval monastic ruins in Ireland. To me there was something simply magical about their location in the countryside. It felt haunting in the best sense of the word.
I will never forget the moment these birds burst into the sky. That element makes the scene on this card, which would have already been enchanting just a bit more so. I did anticipate their appearance. I heard them fluttering about in the ruins somewhere as others in my group moved about. I had a feeling they were going to fly out, but I had no way of knowing if they'd fly my way or indeed what direction to expect them. I positioned myself, and I hoped...
If you've been to County Galway and visited Ross Errilly Friary yourself or you just love Medieval Irish ruins, this may card may be a special memento to remind you of the magic of Ireland.
