This inspirational quote art print features the quote "It is not in the stars to hold our destiny but in ourselves." When I first started working on the artwork to accompany this beautiful message, I thought the quote was from William Shakespeare. However, even before I was done with it research revealed that Shakespeare never wrote this exact quote. It appears someone may have adapted this quote from a line in his play Julius Caesar when Cassius says:
"The fault, dear Brutus, is not in our stars,
But in ourselves, that we are underlings."
Whatever the origin of the quote in question, it has a genuine beauty to me. I think sometimes we spend too much time trying to put wise words in the mouths of famous people. A quote can be inspirational simply because it is. And I, for one, love that this quote suggests that we are in charge of our own fates.
Does the quote on this starry night art print hold special meaning for you as well?
