The subject of this New York City metal print is the landmark Brooklyn Bridge. This historic bridge between Manhattan and Brooklyn was completed in 1883. Before the Brooklyn Bridge the only way across the East River was by Ferry. It was a monumental task to build the bridge connecting the two boroughs. In the time that has passed it has become symbolic of New York City, and it was designated a National landmark in 1964. There's something deeply awe inspiring about seeing those piers and Gothic arches rising above the water, isn't there?
The landmark Brooklyn Bridge is one of those subjects of which I never tire. The structure itself is simply a work of art. It was built to last - over-engineered from what I've read. And although the Manhattan buildings seen behind it may change, the Brooklyn Bridge seems like a permanent part of the fabric of New York City. This is a personal favorite of my New York City images.
