Leeds Castle In Spring - English Landscape Greeting Card
This original English landscape greeting card features the fairy tale beauty of Leeds Castle in Kent. This historic castle has been around for 900 years and among its owners is Henry VIII. While King Henry VIII may be its most famous owner, its last owner, Lady Baillie lived at the castle longer than any of its previous owners and is most responsible for how it looks today. An American heiress, she purchased the castle and renovated it into a lavish modern home where she entertained the great and good during her lifetime. She also arranged to leave the castle into a private trust created to preserve Leeds Castle and share it with visitors for generations to come.
This Leeds Castle artwork on this card is based on a photo taken on my trip to Kent some years ago. The English landscapes there were captivating with or without beautiful old castles but seeing the Castle is among my most vivid memories of spring time in England. Beautiful sunny weather and rambling old architecture, a beautiful subject for art! The castle is seen here across the water spring grasses in the foreground and blue skies.
I would love to know what attracts you to this English landscape greeting card? Does the image on it remind you of a visit to Leeds Castle? Perhaps you call Kent home? Or do you just love romantic old castles like the one depicted here?
