This Georgia tote bag features original artwork depicting the historic Macon County Courthouse. Although not the first courthouse, it has the distinction of being the longest in service - from 1894 to today. There's a mythos surrounding the history of this courthouse as there was a struggle between the cities of Montezuma and Oglethorpe over possession of the new courthouse in the early 1890's. Oglethorpe clearly won the fight to remain the county seat. In my childhood the courthouse was still covered in a tired white paint but in more recent years it was restored to its 1894 red brick. In my eyes, a much more attractive look
