Marshallville Central of Georgia Railroad Depot Greeting Card
This greeting card features the Marshallville Central of Georgia Railroad Depot. This Queen Anne Style Depot was built in 1912 to replace an earlier depot that burned. Marshallville is the home of the Elberta Peach, the first variety that could be shipped long distances. Imagine the number of Elberta's that must have shipped through this old depot?
The image on this card shows the depot as it looked in the past. Today it's lost some of its period charm and is in use as a convenience store. So this Georgia artwork is a little bit of Macon County's history preserved.
