Montezuma Depot - Central of Georgia Railway Greeting Card
This Central of Georgia Railway greeting card features the 1890 Montezuma Depot. In the Montezuma of my lifetime, we would simply refer to it as The Depot, but not that long ago, there were actually two in town. This one, still in its original location, was the Central of Georgia Railway Depot. The Atlantic & Birmingham Railroad Depot was moved in the 1970's to Tifton for use by the Georgia Museum of Agriculture & Historic Village.
Our remaining depot may be the most iconic building in our historic district. Definitely I think for many of us, the thought of Montezuma summons up old red brick depot at the heart of town. It's shown in the image on this card with a color style that is reminiscent of the rich tones of vintage color postcards.
