This Salem Massachusetts art print features a little red Fisherman's cottage near the water. This is based on a photo from a trip to the Boston area years ago. And actually, I'm honestly not sure what this little building was. If you glance to the background at the upper right, you'll see the masts of boats in a nearby marina. I wondered if this little "cottage" was an old marina office but what I appreciated most was its cozy size and the brilliant pop of red paint. On a sunny winter day, this building really caught my eye and warmed my heart.
The idea that it's an old fisherman's cottage is obviously just a story I imagined and attached to the building, but isn't it easy to imagine in Salem, a town that was once home to an industrious community of folks who depended on the sea for their livelihood? Whatever the real story, I can see that imaginary fisherman coming home to his family in this cozy cottage near the sea in Salem.
