This Galway art print captures a view of The Long Walk from The Claddagh and includes several seabirds in flight. I swear I can hear them when I look at this print, can you? The sound of birds is definitely part and parcel of a walk on the seaside and I spent a lot of my time in Galway along the water. I cannot name all the birds in the air and on the water, but I believe the larger birds in flight are herring gulls. They were enjoying the sunny winter day for sure!
There's something graceful and effortless about birds in flight which was what I wanted to capture in this scene. As they careened through the air against such a beautiful backdrop, I couldn't help but feel happy and I feel that same feeling wash over me in my quiet home years later. It definitely takes me back to the sea and in particular back to Galway.
