This London art print features a mixed media painting of St. Paul's Cathedral Dome. This London landmark has stood for generations. It was constructed in the late 17th century following the fire of 1666 which destroyed much of London including the predecessor to the current cathedral. The dome was the crowning achievement of architect Sir Christopher Wren. But it was controversial in his time. It was unlike other English architecture of its day and some considered it "too Catholic" for their taste. So determined was Wren he had much of the dome built under wraps and out of sight. Today it's truly hard to imagine the London skyline without St. Paul's Cathedral dome.
This artwork captures a brightly lit day with sunlight illuminating the lines of the dome and all its details. A beautiful choice of prints that is suited for Anglophiles, people who love London, and of course those of us who admire brilliant architecture.
