Woman In Red - Dublin Ireland Post Office Greeting Card
This Dublin Ireland Post Office greeting card features not only the beautiful Georgian architecture of O'Connell Street but also an eye catching woman in red waiting to cross the street. This is based off a photo from my time in Dublin years ago. I had stood on that cold pavement some time while waiting for the perfect moment when I spotted this woman in a bright red coat approaching the street corner at Princes and O'Connell streets. Even though she takes up a relatively small area of the actual scene, she brought with her a pop of color and interest to this frosty day in Dublin. Notice the frost on the streets and the cool blue in the air. Despite the bright sun it was a cold but beautiful day to capture some of the flavor of historic Dublin.
The Post Office in Dublin is where the head offices of An Post, the British Postal service is headquartered. And the building is genuine Georgian architecture built under British rule and if you've been to Dublin you've likely seen the bullet holes that remain in the walls of the old building, remnants of the revolt that won the Irish their freedom from outside rule. So this is not just a scenic view but a little of the historic fabric of the city of Dublin.
What attracts you to the image on this Dublin Ireland Post Office greeting card? Do you have fond memories of this part of O'Connell Street? Love classic Georgian architecture? Or maybe the woman in red called to you, too?
